Parent Volunteer Sign Ups
The volunteer sign up sheets posted in each pool’s windows
will be taken down Monday, January 28 after swim practices. We expect each
family to supply volunteers, one volunteer per session your swimmer is
swimming, and at least one session of volunteering if your swimmer is not
swimming. This meet’s income benefits the whole team; therefore, we need the
whole team’s help! Sessions are relativity short.
BEING GOOD HOSTS One reminder for the upcoming
swim meet weekend at Blue Ash YMCA – each member of the BASH family needs to remember
they are a
CO-HOST of this meet. Please treat our visiting swimmers and
parents with the caring, respect and politeness you would like to receive at a
swim meet. We need to offer an enjoyable experience for each of our swimmers
and families along with our visiting team. Please go out of your way to be
helpful, courteous, pleasant and friendly to our visitors, we want them to want
to enjoy their experience and re-turn again and or recommend others try our
swim meets.
Timers and officials – check in as
soon as you arrive, meeting about 30 Minutes before the start of each session,
meet in racquetball courts
Concessions & Heat sheet sales
– same as swimmers’ warm up
Clerk of course – 1 hour before
meet each day (in Gym)
Set up – Friday at 4 PM in Main
Pool
Clean up – ALL parents need to
plan to clean up after their session for about 10 minutes on Friday and
Saturday and about 30 minutes on Sunday. The more parents that help, the faster
we get done.
The meet has about 340 swimmers entered, about 100 LESS than
last year. Some sessions have less than 2 hours of competition each time,
Saturday Afternoon is the longest 12 Noon - 3 PM.
We hope to provide a great swimming meet experience for our
visiting teams and for our swimmers. Each of our parent volunteers is important
to a successful meet; each job they do is critical in running a good meet.
Parents Please check in as soon as you arrive – in
racquetball court lobby. If you are bringing food, take it to the concessions
stand. If you are working as a timer or official, report to their meeting area
described above. Everyone needs to be included in clean up on Sunday afternoon.
The more help cleaning up, the faster it will be done.
COLLATING MEET PROGRAMS
For the past 10 years or so, we mimeo the meet programs at
the YMCA and then collate them on the Thursday before the meet. This save the
team over $500 and make the meet programs a very profitable part of our swim
meets. This Thursday, January 31 starting about 2:30 PM in Ferris building, we
will start collating. The older swimmers will work on this before practice, but
we can always use extra help. Usually finished about 4 PM or so.
PRE-SET UP OF MEET This
coming Thursday, January 31st from 6:30 – 9 PM during Blue, Junior
and Adv Age Practices we are going to set up the Main Pool for the meet.
IF you can help, please show up. This is an attempt to get
started earlier, thus saving Coach Bill a few gray hairs!
LaRosa’s Buddy Card Fundraiser:
We have sold over 100 cards in our first week of
sales! Remember, each family that sells 5 cards will receive a free card
for their own use after the sale ends. Also, spirit wear prizes
embroidered with “BASH Swimming” are available for those families selling 10 or
more cards. If you still need to pick up cards, you may leave an envelope
at the front desk of the main lobby with “Tracy Fry – BASH Buddy Cards” written
on the front. Inside the envelope, place a check payable to “Blue Ash
YMCA” with $10 for each card. Tracy will remove the check and replace it
with the corresponding number of Buddy Cards you have purchased. The
envelope will then be returned to the front desk staff with your name written
on the front. If you pay in cash, you must be sure to put your name
somewhere on the envelope so that we know who is buying the cards. Return
to the main desk later that day or the following day to pick up your
cards. Remember, the deadline to return unsold cards is Wednesday,
January 30th. Fro any questions contact Tracy at tfry1@cinci.rr.com or 793-2798.
