If you work the table, you’ll earn the credit from anyone who buys except other swim team families (they’ll get their own credit). We will also have packets you can pick up and go out and sell to friend and neighbors. These packets will be available on Wednesday, Nov 7th, all orders are due back to the YMCA by Tuesday, Nov. 14, and delivery will be earlier the next week, details to follow.

BLUE ASH Y’S NOVEMBER INVITATIONAL

November 16-18 are the dates for our biggest swim meet at Blue Ash Y each year. It brings in over 15% of our team’s income for a year, a big Deal.

Over the next few newsletters I will be updating everyone on the meet ---

Sign up on line for the meet as soon as possible (swimmers).

Parents – sign up to volunteer at the meet, either building at the Y, we expect every family to sign up to work each session your swimmer is swimming up to 3 per family. IF you need other arrangements, please contact Coach Bill, he needs other work done before and after the meet. You can work sessions that your swimmer is not in, thus freeing you up for their session. We are always looking for extra help on Friday evening.

Ads for the meet program are due Monday, Nov 5th, form on the team’s website.

We need a parent to step up and volunteer to be an Assistant concessions manager

We need a parent to step up and volunteer to be in charge of the Coaches Hospitality

We usually pay to have the ads for the meet program to be copied at Kinkos, we then collate the programs at the YMCA. But, IF you can volunteer to have copies made, please let Coach Bill know as soon as possible. Usually will be 1 page, double sided, about 400 copies. We’ll take whatever you can offer.

SWIM MEET COMPUTER TRAINING

ON Tuesday, November 13 from 7 – 9 PM we are offering training for those interested in learning how to run the 2 computers we use in swim meets. One is the Colorado Timing computer that records the times from the touch pads at the swim meet, the second one is the computer that calculates the results, print the ribbons labels etc.  IF you think you might be interested, please contact Coach Bill. We have limited spots for this, and parents who have been on the team for a while will get first preference.

YMCA LIFEGUARDS        The Y is in search for lifeguards for the Y’s pool. We are trying to guard all of the swim team practices in addition to the regular pool schedule. Anyone interested can contact Coach Bill with questions. The Y can certify you, and you can guard a pool while your swimmer is practicing!

2 Fun Activities over the Thanksgiving Holiday   Some BASH parents have started organizing 2 activities on Friday after Thanksgiving. Basic Detail now, more specific later-

Practice Schedule Changes

Saturday, November 10 – NO Practice –all groups, due to ME Lyons YMCA swim meet!

TEAM UNIFORMS AT MEETS At swim meets we want our swimmers to wear our team swim caps and those swimmers that have team suits should wear them. Also, everyone has a new team tee-shirt, that should be worn one day, and those who have been on the team for a few years, should have other BASH tee-shirts, since we usually give everyone 2 tee-shirts a year. HOPEFULLY our new caps will be here soon, we’ll let you know!

Some of the team suits are in, they are at the Y’s Main Desk, more to follow soon!

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

At the first invitational meet of the year, we do not expect best times out of all of our swimmers; we expect that they put into competition, the new techniques and strategies they have been learning in practice for the past couple of months. Also, hopefully, new start and turn techniques will be tried in the swim meet this weekend. As swimmers get more years of experience in swimming, their ability to shave large amounts of time off of their best times become impossible, they shave only small amounts and only at some meets. Don’t focus only on times; look at stroke and technique improvements and faster times will come.

SWIM MEET ADVERTISEMENTS     One good fund raising activity is selling advertisements for our swim meet programs. We handed out information at the Parents’ meeting and have it available on our team’s website. Advertisements are due to Coach Bill immediately!

COACHING FEES      The 2nd payment for Coaching Fees is to be due November 15th. Statements have been mailed. Please pay as soon as possible. If you do not receive a bill, please contact Coach Bill.
