November 16-18 are the dates for our biggest swim meet at
Blue Ash Y each year. It brings in over 15% of our team’s income for a
year. WE have a full meet (closed with
almost 470 swimmers) but smaller than last year by about 75.. BASH has 135 of
the swimmers in this meet will be held totally in the MAIN POOL of the Main
Building.
Parents – sign up to volunteer at the meet (in Ferris Pool’s
windows) we expect every family to sign up to work each session their swimmers
are swimming. List will come down on Monday evening!
We
Need a parent to step up and volunteer to be in charge of the Coaches
Hospitality
5 DAYS TILL BASH NOVEMBER INVITATIONAL
So what should you of done?
>Each family should
have signed up to have a parent volunteer each session their swimmer is in – up
to 2 session. If families do not supply a volunteer they will be charged $50
per time someone does not report to work.
We’ll get a final copy out via email later this week, and
we’ll also post this on our website.
We will need some parents to work more than that; any and all help is
needed. We do need a few teenagers to step forward and help – Community Service
Hours can be counted.
>Check out list of
supplies that are needed for the meet and concession stand and sign up to bring
one of these items to the meet (bake sale items, drinks, paper goods, etc.),
posted in the lobby of Ferris Pool. If all items are taken, either bring $10 in
quarter for change or baked goods.
Meet Set-up or Meet
Clean up. We’ll start about 2
PM to set up for the Friday evening session.
We will need to clean the Gym each evening after the meet (about 20
minutes of work) The biggest help will be needed after Sunday afternoon’s
session - clean up in the pool and gym areas.
It takes less than 1/2 hour with a lot of help, or Coach Bill can do it
by himself in about 6 hours! Please stay and help! This would be extra volunteer time on your part! After Sunday afternoon’s session you’ll get
your assignment for clean up!
Parking BASH parents; please park in the back of the YMCA each day. Due
to the large number of swimmers plus all the other activities going on (mostly
in the Annex Building) BASH parent are being asked to plan on this. Save the best spots for our guesses, just
like you would at your party at your house!
Baked Goods We will need baked goods from each family for our
snack bar. Please bring items
individually wrap (if possible) to the meet on Saturday. Also, sign up in the
Ferris pool to donate other items for the concession stand – the swim team runs
the concessions at the meet and we make a good profit on it, thus helping our
team. If we get more products donated, the less we buy, the more the team
makes!
Donated Food Items We would
like the non-perishables brought to the YMCA on Thursday evening between 6:30
PM and 7:30 PM (if Possible). Bring to the Concessions Stand and we’ll be there
to collect your items. We will also check off your name when you bring in your
items. IF you cannot bring in items on Thursday, please bring to items the
first day your swimmer is in the swim meet!
COLLATING THE SWIM MEET PROGRAM We will
be collating Meet Programs in the Ferris Building on Wednesday, November 14th
from 3 PM till 7 PM and help will be needed.
Friday
night warm-up for BASH at 4:30 PM in Main Pool, seating in Racquetball #3
Saturday Morning – warm up at 6:50 AM in the Main Pool
please sit in the gym.
Sunday Morning – warm up at 6:50 AM in Ferris Pool please
sit in the gym.
Afternoons (12 and Under swimmers) – Warm-up at 11:40 AM –
we still have to find a place to sit, since we have so many swimmers each
afternoon.
WE are starting Saturday afternoon at 1:00 PM, Sunday
afternoon at 12:50 PM (earlier).
We should finish on Friday night by 9:00 PM, Morning by 11:30
AM (with the 400 IM or the mile). Saturday afternoon till about 5:45 PM, but
the last hour is for the 9 and over 200 Freestyles. Sunday afternoon is done
about 5:00 PM. Hopefully, all will go
according to schedule.
Parent workers should report about 45 minutes before the
meet starts each day-
Friday night that is at 5:15 PM, meet at 6 PM.
Mornings report at 7:15 AM, meet at 8 AM.
Afternoons report at 12:00 PM, meet at 1 PM.
Except those parents
working in the concession area, clerk of course and heat sheet sales – should
report at BASH warm-up times since those jobs start early and finish early.
All parents must sign in when they get to the YMCA. Also, do
not leave till a BASH parent releases you from your area. Sign in at the
Concessions or in the racquetball courts of the YMCA!
ON Tuesday, November 13 from 7 – 9 PM we are offering
training for those interested in learning how to run the 2 computers we use in
swim meets. One is the Colorado Timing computer that records the times from the
touch pads at the swim meet, the second one is the computer that calculates the
results, print the ribbons labels etc.
IF you think you might be interested, please contact Coach Bill. We have
limited spots for this, and parents who have been on the team for a while will
get first preference.
2 Fun Activities over the Thanksgiving Holiday Some BASH parents have started organizing 2 activities on Friday
after Thanksgiving. Basic Detail now, more specific later-
Adv Age & Senior Groups – Cyclone Hockey Game, Friday
evening Nov 23
Dolphin & Blue Groups – Bowling & Pizza Party, 10 –
12 Noon Friday, Nov 23
Please save these dates for these swimmers!
TEAM UNIFORMS AT MEETS At swim meets we want our swimmers to wear our team swim caps and
those swimmers that have team suits should wear them. Also, everyone has a new
team tee-shirt, that should be worn one day, and those who have been on the
team for a few years, should have other BASH tee-shirts, since we usually give
everyone 2 tee-shirts a year. The swim caps are here and will be passed out at
practices this week. Some of the team suits are in, they are at the Y’s Main
Desk, more to follow soon!
COACHING FEES The 2nd
payment for Coaching Fees is to be due November 15th.

receive a bill, please contact Coach Bill.
