The Olympic Trials have been held there 3 times, because it is one of the best pools in the World! Many World Records have been set in this great facility.  It is not too late to get into this meet, all 11 and overs, who have had AA times should strongly consider this meet! All swimmers who have ever swum in AA’s in the past should consider this meet.

Results from Atlanta – National Short Course Championships

This past weekend BASH swimmers Amanda Rom and Stephanie Conklin traveled with Coach Bill to Atlanta to swim in the biggest meet of this season. Stephanie and Amanda each swam the 100 and 200 Breaststrokes at the meet. They were intimidated at the beginning of the meet, but after a day or so, they each realized they could swim and compete at this level of swimming. There were numerous Olympic Swimmers competing in the meet. They witnessed 5 American Records being broken over the course of the weekend. This trip was a tremendous experience for each of our BASH swimmers. Even though the girls were just off their best times, they were happy to compete and now realize what they need to improve to move up to the top of this level of swimming. Ask them about their trip, we also visited Martin Luther King, Jr.’s gravesite and memorial, plus saw an escalator for your shopping cart in a 3-story Target store. All most as exciting as being run over by Michael Phelps in warm ups!

 WINTER WEATHER

We are hearing that we may have bad weather later this week. Therefore -----

We handle bad weather in the following manor –

1)      It is always first your decision as to your ability to drive in bad road conditions.

2)      Secondly, we must yield to the YMCA’s policies – they put closing on the radio. But this rarely occurs.

3)      Swim team tries to make a decision about practice cancellations at least 1 hour before a practice might begin.

4)      We will send out an email and post on our website as soon as we know and let the YMCA’s front desk know.

5)      We will not call all 110 families about cancellations.

6)      If you call the Y, you must ask which training groups are cancelled. We sometimes cancel some groups and BUT not all groups. Ask about your swimmers’ specific group, since we have 6 different levels of groups training at different times of the day.

7)      Bad weather in the morning with a chance to clear roads by afternoon practice usually results in having afternoon practices.

8)      Questions should be directed to Coach Bill, but first referred to #1 above!

DESIGN FOR ZONE TEE SHIRT

Again this coming March, Blue Ash and Powel Crosley YMCAs are hosting the Great Lakes Zone meet at Cleveland State University. We need a design for tee shirts. We usually sell about 800 tee shirts and 500 sweatshirts. Any ideas should be forward to Coach Bill. A basic idea will do, we’ll

Get an artist to refine your ideas.  The Zones’ website is http://www.glzyswim.org/ if you want more information about the meet.

We are also looking for a chairperson or persons to be in charge of this sale and anyone interested, please contact Coach Bill. We will compensate anyone nicely for this big job!
