BASH Group Expectations and Descriptions

Junior Team – This group is for 6 to 9 year old inexperienced swimmers who can swim freestyle and backstroke. They are learning new strokes and starts, and teaching the fundamentals are emphasized. Recommend that they swim 2 practices per week out of the 5 offered each week.

Blue Group - 7 to 10 year old swimmers who can swim 3 strokes and learn the 4th. Also learning starts and turns. Expect to swim IM’s in meets. Recommend that they swim 2 or 3 times per week out of the 5 per week that are offered.

Dolphin Group – 8 to 11 year old swimmers who can swim all 4 strokes but need refinements in mechanics and improve turns and starts. Expect these swimmers to swim some 200’s in meets. Recommend that they swim at least 3 practices per week.  

Advance Age Group – 10 to 13 year old swimmers who are ready for a challenging swimming experience. Stroke mechanics will be improved and an increase in training will be offered. Dryland training will be introduced and swimmers will be expected to participate in this area of their training. Swimmers will be expected to swim all their age group’s distances in meets. Recommend that these swimmers attend at least 4 practices per week.

Senior Group – 12 and over swimmers who are ready for the challenge of a serious training program that will prepare them for high levels of swimming.  2 hour of practice in the pool are offered and swimmers are expected to attend 5 or more practices per week. Weight training is introduced and dryland training is more challenging.

Elite Group – 13 and over swimmers who are ready for the highest level of training and competition. Swimmers are trained to compete at the State and National Levels of competition.  Serious swim training and weight training are introduced. The highest level of commitment is expected and all practices are required, including those before school in the morning.
